Ok I have a Fox and I want better sound! I really like Infinity so I am going to try to stay with Infinity. For the 3.5s I am going with these. Now for the doors I need 6.5s. What is the difference between components and regular speakers? For regular 6.5s I would go with these but if I decide to go with components I will get these . Now with a component set will I have to run an amp? And for the 6x8s in the back I will most likely use these. If I need an amp for the components would it be a good idea to get a 4 channel amp and run the components and the 6x8s? Would there be any mounting depth problems with any of these speakers as well? What is everyone's opinions on my ideas? I need all of them I can get because I am ready to buy! Thanks and sorry for being so long.

I think it just really depends on how much work you want to do. If you go with components, you are going to have to locate a spot to mount and hide the crossover box. Most audiophiles will tell you to go with components, where as the rest of us are fine with 2 or 3 way speakers. As for the amp, four channel should be fine as long as you don't get stingy with the wattage. Meaning you don't buy some cheap 4 channel amp, get one with some power. A 5 channel amp would be ideal and then you could always run a subwoofer off the 5th channel.

I personally went with all Alpine in my head and speaker choices. Don't forget the Dynamat clones to help dampen!

do the components and skip the 3.5's. Locate the tweeters in the old 3.5 position. You will not be diappointed

Ditto. Components will always give you better sound...for a price. I mean if you can afford the components, then just get them.

Ok so I should get the component set and put the tweeters where the 3.5s should go. What about an amp for the components? Is it necessary to have an amp? Should I get an amp to run the components and the 6x8s? I will be getting either a pioneer or alpine head unit soon and I do plan to run a subwoofer next spring after a 3g alt. install. Keep the replies coming guys.

Yes....if you are going to run components, get a amp. The wattage from your head unit will not do the components justice.

definately skip the 3.5's and go with component speakers, you will get much better results.

i would say skip the 6x8's as well, you really don't want a lot (if any) sound coming from behind you, especially in a smaller car like a foxbody.

i'd put as much as you can afford into a set of good quality 2-way 6.5" components and a good amp to power them (ideally 75-150 watts RMS per channel). you won't be dissapointed.

one option is to get a nice 4 channel amp with around 100+ watts per channel, run the components off the front, and bridge the rear channels to power a sub when you get it later. this is cheaper, more conveient, and uses less space than buying separate amps and will sound every bit as good.

i'd definately pay a little more for an Alpine head unit, they're totally worth it. I've had mine for 2 years and 3 cars and have never had a single problem with it... for the money, no one builds as good a deck as Alpine IMO.
