help missing

i just got my four cylinder conversion running. it runs great as long as the computer timing plug is pulled. when i plug it in it acts funny. also it misses when part throttle but runs great as long as i am getting on it. it is running rich too. i tried to have the codes pulled but the programmer kept getting an error. any ideas what this is
