ok i left the movie theaters and spiderman 2 was great but when i arived home i downshifted like i do to slow do to pull into my driveway but today wasnt good i heard this terrible sound like something was stuck under my car so i turned the car off and i looked and i found pieces of my shredded belt. this belt was bought 2 days ago just put on. Could the belt have been defective??? what could cause this??? it ran fine for 2 days even raced and no problems when i drove home today i just crused thats it. if the belt was a little to tight could this be caused??? i have a sn92 supercharger that was on the car but taken off and i have the brackets all hooked up so i had to try on belts since the stocks didnt fit what size do you guys run i want to compair also when i put it on it seemed a little tight getting it on the last pulley but once it was one it was loose to where i could push on it. could i have just put it on wrong or was it defective??? also i bought it from kragen so i wonder if the will replace it but the problem is i dont have the belt all i have is 2 small shreds i think i was driveing with no belt but is this possible?

have you spun each pulley to make sure nothing is seized up? tight belt should not shred like that - it is just a little tough on the bearings in the accessories.....unless it was super tight....does not sound like it though.
good luck.

Correct, first thing to do is check all the pullies, the smog pump may have locked up/seized and this will throw the belt, same for any other accessory.

You could drive it with no belt, BUT the alt will not charge (so your running on battery alone) you will have no Power steering, and the water pump isn't turning so it will not cool. I had a belt brake one time (smog pump seized) and I was able to make it about 4 miles drifting and under low power before the temp started to rise.

Wow 4 miles? I drove about a mile on mine once like that and it started climbing. The water pump part is what would scare me the most. I'd check the pullies, then call whoever you bought the belt from and chew'em a new one.

Check your tensioner, they go bad all the time, same result.

It was about 50 degrees out and I was able to drift at idle a good ways down the highway when it first broke, as I got off the exit and to my friends house creeping through town it started to get hot, but it stayed under 210 degrees......this was with a stock head.
