95 Mustang 5.0 GT40 Crate Motor

I have been having issues with how my car has been running. It's been shaking on and off.

I recently had my oil changed and the tech put in too much oil ( 6 quarts). As of yesterday, the car started to make knocking sound. I went underneath preparing to remove some oil and ran across this! Could someone please help to explain what this is and how to fix it? Thank you!

You need a new Harmonic balancer. Yours has failed

I would think it's unrelated to the 6 qts. unless the tech physicslly damaged it.

You will need a harmonic balancer puller and install tool if you plan to do it yourself.

Pioneer makes a good replacement balancer

The rubber ring (between the two halves of the balancer) is known to fail over the years. Thats what was causing your intermittent shaking.
Get it replaced asap.

Good replacement is the Pioneer , Dayco (Powerbond), or a stock replacement from Ford Racing.
