Help on mass air conversion 1987

I have a 1987 5.0 5spd that I converted to mass air using an eec harness and eec from a 1989. My question is does anything else have to be done wiring wise or is it just plug-n-play. I know I should run a signal wire back to the eec from fpr but not sure if I need to do anything else. Any help would be appreciated.

The 89 wiring harness is plug and play with an 89-93 5.0 Mustang computer.

Be sure to use a O2 sensor wiring harness that matches the transmission you now have installed in the car. If you don't you may damage the computer. I would advise you do do a search on O2 sensor harness in the 5.0 forum so that you can make the correct choice.

The Mass Air computers from 89-93 are interchangeable with a few exceptions. Just be sure you use the MAF & MAF sensor from the same series computer. The auto transmission computers use a different start circuit than the manual computers. You can use an auto trans computer in a 5 speed car with no problems or changes.I have done it in my original 89 Mustang GT, and I know it works OK. I have no positive input or com ments on using a 5 speed computer in an auto trans car. I personally would not do it.


The odd duck is the 93 Cobra computer, labled X3Z which is interally calibrated for 24 lb injectors. Try and avoid it if you can.

thank you. Iam trying to track down the source of some codes and other issues that I havent been able to resolve and i'am not trying to be just a parts changer but it looks like i'am heaing down that path. I checked all grounds and connections but still get codes 15,22,85,95 and when I throw a scanner on their it says my coolant temp sensor is out of range and one of my thermactors. All emmisions are off my car and emmisions where disabled thru my sniper chip.
