I am new to all this so sorry to be a pain but I have never pulled a motor before and I am at the part where its time to undo the motor mounts and pull her out. Where should I hook up the chains on the motor for lifting it out? 89 302

If it is stock you have the brackets at the headers you can put the chains or hook through, if not pull the accessories off the front of the motor and use the heads, you can use a 7/16" bolt in the front and rear of the heads. They also sell engine lift plates that fit most stock and aftermarket manifolds...

If you do happen to use an intake lift plate, make sure you buy GRADE 8 bolts to use. Don't ask me how I know grade 5 won't work :) I now use a grade 8 in the front accessory hole and one in the rear of the head to pull it out with.

I just pulled old 302 and swapped in a 351W last weekend. From experience, pull engine and tranny all together. Make sure to unhook the throttle cable and injector harness/firewall to rear driver side head. Jack up the front of the car a little bit (about a foot). to give yourself a little more engine tilting room. Drain the tranny and a load leveler comes in handy. Also if the load leveler won't angle it enough, a ratchet strap looped underneath the two front header tubes and over the engine hoist will help tremendously. Also remove shifter after tranny is drained. Just make sure everything is disconnected, and pull her out. I pulled and replace mine by myself. Major pain in the butt, but it can be done. Just take your time.
