HELP! putting new clutch in

Oh no, and you have tails? If the car is sitting high enough, unbolt at the headers and let the pipes drop but it will be a PITA to get the transmission out.

I suggest it's time to properly setup the exhaust. Cut it with a sawzall (sp?) and use some clamps to connect the pipes back together..

yea, the tailpipes are welded too. i thought the muffler shop had used the clamps to connect that part but evidently not. it will be me and my dad working so maybe it wont be that hard to get the tranny out.

You're gonna have to cut it. I was thinking if you could unbolt the tips, you could have dropped the muffler hangars and pulled the H with mulfflers connected, but you'll never them out in one piece with the way the pipes are bent over the axle. Time for a sawzall man. Make two nice clean cuts and have them re-welded or do them the right way.

Cut em and use clamps and couplings or have them rewelded when you are done.

We had to do the same thing on my brothers 89 when we did the clutch. If you don't cut them you will have a hell of a time getting that trans out from under the car even with 2 people.

turns out the x-pipe was a 2-piece so the driver side pipe was removed. the passenger side was still there, but it wasnt too much of a problem getting everything out. i would have to say that the most aggrevating part was getting the top bolt off of the starter.
