I tried to search for this topic but found nothing relevant. I am trying to remove the GT badges on my car in order to sand them down and paint them black. My car is not a special edition, so it has the standard GT badges. Is there a particular way to remove them other than prying them off carefully with a screwdriver? If this is the method, once their off, what is the best way to get them back on?

I actually used dental floss. It works great, from my experiences. I've always been able to remove them with just floss on my 'Stangs. On my friend's M3, we were having a hard time, so we soaked the badge in Goo-Gone for a while, then flossed it, and it came right off. The fender GT badges have alignment pins on them, so you'll have to work around the badge in a circle. The rear decklid GT emblem doesn't have the pins, so you can go straight across. The Ford emblem has the pins.

Why wouldn't you just tape it up really good and sand and paint them on the car? That would save alot of hassle of having to take them off and then put them back on.

I don't want to paint the whole things black. I wanted the G and T flat black, with the other areas zinc yellow to match the paint. I have finished the work, and this is how it turned out.

Spraying anything near a car, while only have a certain area masked off is asking for bad things to happen. Spray drifting on windows, other areas, other cars, etc. best not to be lazy, and do things right the first time around.

How many holes does the Ford emblem have for pins? One or two?

That looks like it turned out really good man, and it's unique.
