Help - Rusted Rotors - Brembo's no less

So I repalced all my pads and rotors about a month or so about when I re-did my whole suspension.

Now my rotors are almost totally rusted.

I am really pissed to pay for a top of the line rotor and it rusts! WTF!

Any Ideas?

all rotors rust if the car sits a lot it will rust worse.

I did search, and I found ways to protect new ones, such as high temp painting or powder coating, but not how to fix a already some what rusty set.

its normal. mine do it, everyone i know with cobras has theirs rust too. are you worried about the hat of the rotor or the portion where the pad rides? ive given up on the hat portion, and when the portion where the pad rides is rusted my braking distances actually drop by about 10%. plus it comes off with the first application.

I never thought that brembo's would have done this or I would not have gotten them.


I guess I need to take them all off and strip all the rust and paint them..BLAH!

You probably bought the un-coated/un-plated ones.

I bought my set from Tire Rack with Zinc coating, and no rust yet, even on the hats.

get carbon brakes, they don't rust and reduce unsprung weight... except they cost more than your car

werd, carbon or ceramic is the way to go. i had a customer come in a few weeks ago with a porsche carrera with ceramic brakes. he said they were a $12k option but worth it.

i dont think their good for street driving


last summer at an autocross event a kid was taking his brothers 'race' car with carbon brakes around for a lap and went off the track on the 1st corner because the brakes were cold and he couldnt stop/slow down

I have brembo rotors and they only get very very very light surface rust when setting for a while, those rotors dont even look like my brembo rotors, they must be the uncoated ones
