- I did a quick search but I didn't find the exact answer to the following questions.

I'm selling my Predator and have unlocked it from the car. I want a SCT handheld tuner and found a good deal on a SF model for $175.

I contacted my tuner and asked him if he would be able to use it and he basically told me that, even if the SF tuner was "unlocked", it would still be unusable on my car because it STILL needed to be reset by him or SCT.

It was my understanding that once the device was unlocked from the sellers car it could be installed on another compatible vehicle, just like the Predator I’m selling.

Am I wrong? I think my tuner is blowing smoke up my rear because he said it would cost $150 to reset and then another $135 per hour of tuning just to get the thing to work! I don't get it?

I don’t need a custom tune, I just need a tuner to correct the 4.10 gears and self tune the auto better than the predator will allow.

Please help.

If it was unlocked your ready to go.

Visit sctflash.com then put in your zip code for the dealer locator. Call a few dealers in your area and tell them you want the SCT Strategy Flash for your car.
The Strategy Flash is SCT's own program which should be fine for stock to lightly modded car. The tune prices out between $70 and $100 where I live. This is all you should have to pay.

While your at it might as well download any updates to the flasher and programs you may want to use.

Back to stock and you can use the SF SCT on another vehicule without any other intervention.

But honestly, you re better off with the predator than the SF SCT. But you can still turn the SF into a custom tuneable device if you want later on

If all you want is to calibrate for gears, the SF should do. Doesn't it allow you to change the gears right on the device without any dealer involvement?

Even *you* can turn an SF (Model 9415) into a custom tuner (Model 9400). If you have a custom tune, you can reformat the 9415 and wipe out the canned tunes then upload your custom tune from a dealer. In fact, it doesn't have to be a custom tune. Ask on sctflash's forums and someone can provide you with the canned tune for your computer code and you can use Extreme Tune software to edit the shift points and calibrate for gears on your own.

The Predator won't let him adjust his part throttle shift points or converter lock points on his auto. The Xcal will.

IF your interested in fixing your speedo then buy a SPEEDCAL box. It connects into factory wiring under your shifter to fix the problem. They are fairly in expensive and your can change then setting with 8 or 10 dip switches very easily.

here is a link to one sit that has them.

these will only work on manual trans cars if you have a 99-04

I have an auto, so the speedcal wont work.

I've been on Diablo's site all morning and I may have found a way to get this predator to work.
It involves buying a data cable for the PC and a power cord. Basically they say I should export a saved factory tune to the PC and then reload it to the Predator as a custom tune. This will allow me to change the gear ratio's without modifying the factory power tune.

Some of you might wonder why I dont use the canned tune on the heldheld. Well, I did and it did let me correct the speedo but there must be a glitch in the Auto tranny program. The car will not shift 1-2 under WOT from a slow roll. Goes right up and bounces the REV limiter no matter where the shift points are set.

I probably will still end up buying a SCT tuner one day because it seems they work with the Auto's better. Right now I just need the quickest and CHEAPEST fix to get the car right again

thanks again guys
