Hey, need help setting my idle. When I go to unplug the IAC, the car will cut off. and idles bad I have to feather thottle to keep her idling. I have turned the screw maybe one turn, but still wont stay idling. So what should I do since it wont stay at idle with IAC unplugged? I basicallly turned it maybe a turn and reset the battery but it still idles like crap.. So am I doing it wrong or should I try it another way?? need some help guys...

Get the engine all warmed up. Screw the idle stop screw in a few turns and unplug the iac. Engine should stay running. If it doesn't, screw in the idle set screw a bit more and repeat.

When you get it running, woth the iac unplugged, back the screw out and lower idle. Drop it down as low as you can get it before it wants to start stalling out. Shut off engine, plug in iac.

Get multimeter out, turn key to on but don't start. Probe green and black wire. Voltage should be between 0.5v and 1.1v. If it is...you are good to go.

Unplug battery for 15 mins and then hook back up and start engine. Let it idle two mins. Then turn all your accessories on and let idle for two more mins. Turn off accessories and then turn off engine. Over the next few starts/stops it should learn to idle.

If it doesn't....get the check engine codes and report back

I did all the steps and it idles at 800..but still drive horrible..the tps is at 1.2 I was told its fine there ..but it won't give all the power still kind of revs when I'm above 40 and want to give it gas it just revs and doesn't really go,but I can accelerate easy and get up to 70..

1.2v is not fine. The max idle voltage acceptable is 1.1v. Above that will trigger a tps code 63. So you need to address this.

You should run the check engine codes and report. You may have other issue present

I don't have the o2's in right now.I put headers in and have to drill out the hole.would that cause.it to drive that bad.I had tps at .9 but when I went to drive,it would try to cut off and would barely stay running.but had a good idle in park.would put in rev,and would start a bad idle again.then wouldn't drive at all...but it has a new maf, tps,Iac.just no 02's.

Well, not having o2 sensors certainly isnt helping the situation. They are a critical part of the efi system
