I just picked up my car but a few problems and questions:
1) SES as I was driving around. Then the odometer turned to "--------". So I called the shop and spoke to the guy thankfully before he left. He told me he couldn't do anything now and to come back another time. However, I work tomorrow and I'm leaving for a week vacation on Friday night. So, I won't be able to get the car looked at until the weekend I come back. Then I realized the speedo wasn't working either.

So, what could cause this? The guy said I probably couldn't fix it myself and since I have no idea where the speedo is plugged in, I agree. This worries me a lot.

2) He said I have a Cobra flywheel since it's a 6 bolt (on my 99) and that I have a steel crank? Anyone heard of this?

Oh, I got a FRRP HD clutch put in, it feels great. Bites like crazy.

Yep, either the speed sensor wires came disconnected by something brushing the under-carriage of the car, or it simply was not on too well and vibrated loose enough to fall off.

The last thing possible, you have a blown fuse or the speed sensor at the tranny went bad. It is alse possible the since your miles on the odometer went blank, that the speedometer went bad.

Does the cruise control still work? If so, the speedometer is bad. Otherwise, check the above.

Jack up the car, and double check to make sure all the plugs along the side of the tranny are hooked up. Probably just unplugged. They run along the driver's side. Easy to get to.
:stupid:
wouldnt it be sweet if your odometer started back at 0?? (that is until the FBI is at your crib for fraud) :D

I'll give those spots a check after work. The speedo stays at 0, the odometer shows my total mileage but neither the full or trip odometer changes. It's only turned to "-------" twice, after driving like 30 minutes each time. I drove to work (4 miles) earlier without it happening. When I turn the car off and back on it shows the full mileage again.

Thanks for the info, hopefully it's that simple. I don't know why the speed shop said I probably couldn't check myself? He isn't going to charge me to fix it so it doesn't make any sense.

The only plug I found was near the O2 sensor connection... I couldn't get at the front of the bellhousing since my jack was in the way (and the jack stand).

Am I even remotely near the right place? I'm clueless... I unplugged that plug and replugged it and even unplugged the battery without any results.
