Help! Talk me into keeping the Mustang

Mazda can indeed be considered a Ford. But it's not 100 percent Ford as a Mustang (or Fusion) is (are).
I love the Fusion but can't part with my Mustang. If I could afford a couple of extra vehicles, I would get a Fusion and a Sport Trac. I had a 2001 Sport Trac and loved it. Black Cherry is a new color for the Sport Trac and it is sharp. I wish I could get a Mustang in that color.

The Mazda 6 is built right along side the Fusion.

The Mazdaspeed 6 isn't, however. It's built in Japan.

Well guys, thanks for all the advice, but I went with what I felt was right to me and I said goodbye to the Mustang tonight.

Sad, but I'll have another one someday, and I'll probably go for the same colors even.

I like the car I bought, the dealership is about 80 miles away and I had a great ride home. We ended up in a pretty bad thunderstorm and the car felt like it was clear and dry, unlike the Mustang which always felt a little squirly in the wet stuff.

I'll say another thing, after putting the car back to stock, it felt like I ripped 50 horsepower out of it. The mods I had ( JLT, Bamachips 93 race, CMCV Deletes ) really made a huge difference.

So unless something happens to change things, which is HIGHLY unlikely, this is how it will be....

Well, your original heading was "Talk Me Into Keeping the Mustang," So some of us tried but after all the posts, it just doesn't seem to be an option. I know of no 4 doors that are comparable.

BTW, sincere congrtats on the new kid.

Yes, that little part of me fought kicking and scratching to keep the car, and in some ways there no comparison to a Mustang, which probably explains why I've owned 6 of them over the years.

I'll definitely be back in one some day. Probably sooner than later, this IS more than just a car to me, just sometimes we have to wait a little while to have what we really want in order to give those we love what they need.

The new car is going to be a lot of fun. These Mazdaspeed 6's are pretty awesome cars too.....

Do what you need to do for the family that is the most important thing.

I know I will hear it for this but no matter what a car is a car your family should always come first (as much as it hurts).

well, we actually traded a Nissan Murano for my wife's Mustang, and we have a 4 year old. don't regret it one bit. sure, it's a hassle with our daughter letting her climb in and out, and every now and then she puts her feet in the back of my seat, but it's a Mustang, and they are about fun. and we have a ball every time we drive the car. my daughter loves the car, and don't want to ride in anything else. keep the Mustang, especially since she had sex with you because of it, because once the baby is here, she will need a reason to have sex. the Mustang just might save you...good luck

He read the info center, told me I should get gas, and really enjoyed it when I floored it and he heard the growl. I told him please do not drive like me. It was quite a bonding experience. I think it will help us be buddies when we both get older.

Slightly off topic but I rented a Murano and actually loved it . It was a living room on wheels and it was like being in a bubble. 9 mpg either way I drove it though - didn't matter fwy or street or even if I let it coast.

First off, the insurance is MUCH lower, so costs will go down. The car is nearly new with about 31,000 less miles, meaning a nearly full warranty. I've always been partial to 4 door sports sedans ( big time SHO fan, actually ), so getting into one makes sense.

And you're right, Stan. Mustangs are a way of life...One that doesn't end even if you have to put off having one for a while.

This '05 is my 6th, and it sure won't be my last.....

If you have the money, my uncle wants to sell his turbo H2. Has something like 630rwhp. Take it from me personally...it's a freakin' blast to drive...too bad it only gets 10.4mpg

That has to be the classiest statement I've ever read on an internet message board. Congrats on your new car and your upcoming child. The Speed 6 is an awesome car, probably what I would choose if I needed four dours and couldn't afford a BMW. I'm sure you'll be back in a Mustang when the time is right!

I had the elusive and ultra-rare '96 Rose Mist.....That it until a tree and a ravine took it away from me.

It's my brother's. Actually he has 3. There is a 96 Metallic Red with gray seats, a white 97 for my nephew; his has tan seats and he riced it with blinding interior lighting, and a 98 for my sister in law and it has the gray seats. I think its the '98 that's pictured. Tribbles in Rohnert Park CA. They had a green 95 with a stick. The stick was really mushy. Then some neighbors' redwood chips from their front yards washed into the city gutter system and the streets flooded halfway up the driveway. Well, the green car was parked on the curb. So there be no green SHO no mo.

Damn tree. Damn ravine.

A cherry SHO is hard to find. SHOs do have their own following and dedicated websites.

My brother and fam are thinking Fusion but I'm urging them to go luxury and wait for the Linc MKS. A current Taurus will be a rebadged 500 (?)

I was a die hard SHO fanatic back then too. I loved my car and still miss it to this day. Probably miss it more than any of my old Mustangs, except my '72 mach......

Hey, congrats!

We've been there.... done that! If you can swing it, try what we did. Kept the Mustang, but got a Mazda 3 also for the family.... It's a kick to drive, and gets 31mpg.

I particularly like the version with the black grille, and stock rims are nice. The chicken bar is totally rad!
