Ok, I am thinking of buying a 99 cobra, and the only thing stopping me is the tranny. When I am at a complete stop, and push in the clutch, and put the car in 1st, it goes clunk. Then, when I am rolling down the road, and like hit the throttle hard, from like a 60 roll in 5th, it make s ahuge god aweful clunk. No grinding, but i feel as if the whole car has been hit, its a loud thump.

What could be the problem? Please help me, I ahve to decide in the morning whether to buy the car or not.

My 02' GT's trany clunks and bumps all the time......I've taken it to Ford more than once because I was sure there was a problem.

Don't worry about it.......the 99 1/2+ stangs have a noisy transmission, nothing more nothing less.

I drive the ***** out of mine and I've never encountered a problem......just the occasional clunk and bump.

I wouldn't buy it. '99 Cobra's have so many problems, even after all the recall items were fixed. Look for an '01. I'm sure they're going for around 12-16k now. My tranny also makes a "bump" noise when I put it in first and when I shift into second.

My 03 with 5000 miles clunks from time to time. I think its the design of the tranny...

Really...that's weird....In FL they're all over for 13-17 grand...depending on the mileage.
Are you trading your '03 GT in for it? :-/
