help troubleshoot!

I just finished installing an autometer mech water temp gauge, but the gauge does not read anything??...the only thing i have not done yet, is connect the white wire to a light source...(but this should have nothing to do with the gauge not working)...anyone have any ideas as to why its not working??...(maybe the gauge is defective)?...

Make sure there are no kinks in the line. With mine it wont move every now and then unless i floor it. then it comes right to life.

maybe the white wire which goes to a the light completes the circuit...if all wires have good connection then that's my only guess.

the white wire wouldnt have anything to do with it not working correctly, its a mechanical gauge. check you sending unit, and the line. I have heard of some gauges being bad, but its kinda rare. Also make sure your fittings are all tight and that you used plumber tape on them, Theyll leak alittle if you dont. Hope this helps

yea, the wiring is just for the light. does your stock water temp still work? (it shouldn't) make sure it's in the right spot, lower intake manif, drivers side. the pass side actually sends coolant temp to the computer. one trick just to get a response is to pull out the sensor and heat it with a lighter, just enough to get a response though (140*). that should do it.
