Help...what broke?...firewall hose

So again I must reiterate I'm a new 2002 V6 owner and now I'm finding things that the PO must have done.


So I'm washing it and checking around and then in the engine bay....

On the lower passenger side of the firewall about 3/4 of the way down there is some sort of plastic 1/2" hose/pipe that is broken off (jagged edge, slightly protruding) which has dark foam or insulation around it filling in the larger hole in the firewall.

What is this? Everything in the car seems to work.

I couldn't find a opposing hose that was hanging around.

some cars have what is a condensate drain hose coming from the
heater core and/or the AC loop. In case water needs to drain, it wont
drain inside the car. That's what it sound like to me.
