I've got an 03 GT (with my stalker body kit - love it) anyways.. I wanted to know if you guys know which racing gears to get. I'm totally clueless as to what ratio to get and I was looking at the ones on PartShopper and was going to purchase but I got into a jam when looking for the right ratio. Can someone help me out? Also are these things hard to install? I generally take everything to my Mechanic and he knows how to do it, but how hard is it to change the gears? Thanks a lot for your help guys.

majority of this board lives by 4.10's ..... 3.73's are good too ... its a hard pick though.... i drive alot of high way so i got the 3.73 's .... but as far as installation you better get someone that knows what they are doing....they have the tools, the parts, and the knowlege....

staying N/A with a 5 speed: 4.10's
staying N/A with an auto: 4.30's
supercharged 5 speed: 3.73's
supercharged auto: 4.10's

thats the prevailing sentiment.

depends where u drive u car too....3.73s are perfect in my opinion....4.10's are great... on an auto..ur rpm is higher then a stick ...because of the 4 gears plus overdrive.....u gotta put that into consideration too

Well, I've got an Automatic, so would the 4.30's be pushing it? And like I said in my first post.. as far as installation, is this something that maybe Midas would be able to install? (Please don't laugh lol, I have no where else around here to go) Thanks.

I live in Ohio. I already went to Midas to have them install my Exhaust and they did a really good job. I myself am not car inept, so I would be lost. The told me they'd be able to do the K&N Air filter and my front Roush sway bar. I just don't know if they'll go in and mess with the gears.

Some people on here swear by 4.10's and 4.30's They are great if you are going to live at the track, but if you drive your Mustang a lot with that high of a gear in it, you will go insane as quickly as you will have to shift lol. I have 3.73's and they are perfect for me with the driving I do. I travel around 60-80 miles a day now, some city, some highway. They are great on the highway, and are very streetable. I have no desire to step up to 4.10's at the moment. They fit me and my driving habits perfectly, so dont give in to all the 4.10 guys here who must have stock in FRPP 4.10 gears . Im not bashing the gear lol Im just saying it may not be for you, so figure out what you want to do with the car and make your decision from there.
Best of luck!

410's use a lot of gas. 373's should be better for daily use. It would be nice if they made an affordable quick change for gears like nascar. Then you could drive to the track with 308's and swap to 410's or 430's to race.

3.73 is not enough gear. basically 4:10's are the way to go. you need to go drive the 2 setups then you would know. if you want performace you go 4.10's. if you want gas milage stay with you 3.23's.

basically if you are running through the quarter no where near redline in 4th you are leaving performace on the table. that is exactly what 3.73's do.

now 4.30's I have never driven. I have driven 4.56's and they were a bit low. with a different tranny they would have been fine though. with your auto I would go 4.10's some will say 4.30's but I have never driven them to coment.

if you put a poll up between 4.10's and 3.73's everyone except the 1%ers would picked 4.10's... 3.90's < blah
