Help with 8.8 disc brakes please

Hey everybody. I have a 90 notch that's a 4-banger car, so it came with single exhaust. The problem is, I am upgrading to an 8.8 with rear Cobra disc brakes (already did the front), so the new brake hose on the axle won't line up with the hard line on the car. I've heard that you can add a hard line, to move the attachment point for the brake hose to the right place. Has anyone done this and taken pics? Can anyone show me what the heck it's supposed to look like? Email is superhuaman@msn.com Thanks!

I used the 87 turbo coupe rear axle which is the same as the 93 cobra. I used the stock drum brake hydraulic line and some adapters I got from Matt90GT. It all bolted up perfectly.

I know, I already have that stuff, and the Russell 693350 (5-line, 94-95 Cobra) hose kit too. I guess my problem is, I need to extend the existing steel brake line on the body, to the area above the pumpkin. I can't even use the Russell rear center hose on my car - the axle end fits, but the car end has a banjo fitting There's no way I can attach a banjo fitting to a flare fitting (hard line)!!! Unless I were to get an SN95 hard line (good luck wit dat). I think I have it figured out though.

It's kinda of custom, which is what I like. It makes my car unique, then . If I take the bracket off a Cobra rear center hose, and add a 3/8"-24 brass tee, add an AN-adapter, and run a premade (about 20") Russell AN-3 hose up to the hard line, with another AN adapter. It might be hard to visualize for you guys, but it will definitely work. It also means I won't be needing the Russell rear center hose (in addition to the fronts - they're already done). It's too bad they don't sell just the L/R hoses
Hmmm. I'll have to post some pics after it's done. Won't be for a while though, still putting the gears in, in the dining room, of all places

Why not just buy a new line? Greens has tons of Obsolete Ford parts!

Oh, you mean like a new HARD line on the car.... yes, I hadn't thought of that. And then cut and splice into the existing hard line. Or replace the old one entirely. I guess I just like the custom approach because I don't have to mess with the car lines, just the axle. Hmm. Anybody have the part number for the SN95 front-to-rear hardline?

Also, I looked at it again today, and the hardline I have now points to the rear. At first I thought it pointed to the driver's side. Anyway, without the exhaust (and the 5.0 engine) in the car, it's hard to tell where the exhaust WILL be. Maybe I should go for the side exhaust cauze there's no pipes goin' over the axle. Ground clearance won't be a problem, even with the subframe connectors. OK, I am just ranting here. The point is, I am replacing a 7.5 with an 8.8, and the 8.8 has no hard lines. Should have said this before, but they were trashed, so I am going to make new ones. So, I can put the brake hose wherever I want to. But it has to line up with the car, somehow.

I have decided to go the custom Russell route. It would probably cost me more time and money to make it as Ford intended, which I used to like for some reason. Anyway, thanks guys for yor help. I got my gears installed last night too.

Are you sure you are not missing the little Octagon like spacer that hooks the chassis hard line into the top of it, and then the banjo bolt from the flex line into the bottom of it? I had an extra one in my M2300K Kit and I couldnt figure out what the heck it was until I had everything together, then I wasnt going to bother replacing the stock one as it was fine. If you have no idea what I am talking about, email me and I will see if I can find the one from the kit and snap a picture of it for you.

Shakerhood, I don't know if you found it yet or not, but here's what I found. The local Ford dealer gave me this pic, and the number matches what's in the M-2300-K parts list.

E5ZZ-2C230-A 'Tube to hose connector' or something like that.

E6ZZ-2073-A 'Bracket, rear brake hose'
I'll use them if I can find them, they're both obsolete.

Shakerhood emailed pics of the actual part today. It looks like what I need. Now, I need to find the bracket that goes with it. I am thinking junkyard, because the Ford dealer couldn't find any other dealers in the country that still have one in stock.

Yeah, I am sure you can snag a bracket off a junked car and clean it up and put it on yours.
