What's wrong when no matter where I put the switch which selects the direction of the air, the air always comes out the upper defroster holes in my 2000GT?

It is air conditioned air, just won't come out the vents or anywhere else.

Anyone know anything before I go to the dealer and get, you know.

The vacuum line that controls the ducts has become disconnected. For safety reasons when this happens the system defaults to defroster vents only so you can see where you are going when need be.

OK, that's great info. Do I reconnect the line under the dash or under the hood? Please don't tell me I have to take the dash out. . . .

McTeague--thanks, and one further Q

Thanks for that. Now, do I have to take the dash apart to get to that thing, or where do I find that vacuum line??

no you don't have to take the dash out. All the vaccum motors are within reach with the dash in place..

most common spot for them to come off is in the passenger footwell, where the main vaccum line enters the passenger comartment.
