I bought new tires and there not going to clear...has anyone removed their quad shocks all together? i have hear that you can do it if you replace the control arms? is this true?

You have to just replace you control arms I put 17x9 rims on my corba and I had to replace the arms with new ones from a car shop.

Chances are that your quads are already shot anyways... Take them off and drive the car around. If you experience wheel hop than save up some money for some new rear LCA's.

i dont want to go incredibly wide on the tires...i figure 245's b/c nitto makes a nice dr for the 17x9's i have

You can try flipping your Quads for a little extra clearance. All cars react different, some guys can get away without using them after they replace the LCAs and others cannot.
yeah that seems to be the same answer ive gotten from everyone...im going to try and flip them and if that doesnt work then im going to get a set of control arms...i can get a set of bbk ones for 200...anyone use bbk's and have good luck?

I have steeda uppers and lowers on mine and they work fine without the quads. However, they said if you have aftermarket lcas and want to remove the quads, it also depends on the quality of your uppers.
being able to ditch the quads is not a 100% given. sometimes you'll still get wheel hop.
be VERY careful of lower control arm selection on a street driven car. Rear control arms with polyeurothane bushings on BOTH ends will bind and destroy your torque box's. They don't work well at all with cornering. If you have a street car, it's essential to get one with a spherical bushing at one end, and a polyeurothane bushing at the other end. This will prevent bind around corners. maximum motorsports make a great arm like this. I run the pro3i arms from stangnets partsshopper. they're nearly identical to the max motorsports pieces but cheaper.
