Help with 4.6 v8 conversion

i have a 96 mazda b2300 and i was wanting to put a 4.6 in it with an auto, i know the explorer has the same gauges as the ranger and mazda, and u could get a 4.6 in it. so i was wondering if anyone had did this swap, and what all would i need

i would think that you would need the motor mounts/k member from a 4.6L explorer.

my buddy has a 98 ranger, and the motor mounts are the same as the 5.0 (according to him). Buy a 302 and mod the hell out of it!

a 4.6 was never offered in that generation explorer. 5.0 v8 was offered in the 97-01 explorer. and the new explorer that the 4.6 is offered in is not on the same frame as a ranger. not even close too the frame on the ranger or the older explorer. and all the gauges and wirring and modules are different.

a thing you have too remember is the cluster (gauges) is the comm. hub in a explorer. esp in the years with a 4.6l 02-current this swap will be a nightmare unless you carry over all the modules from the 02-current donor explorer.. this includes the 4x4 so if your not going 4x4 you need too find a 4x2 4.6l explorer too raid the harness and modules from.

i would swap a 5.0 in it. much easier.

true true, sorry dont deal with rangers much. ya going with a 5.0 would probably be easier.

yeah i am kinda scared for that guy with that car... i really dont want too know what he did to those calipers. all i know is i doubt they work anymore. unless he figured it out and twisted them back in.

this is why some people should not give tech. or atleast don't give tech that can injure people or their car.
