Looking into a custom grind cam for my new setup. Who should I go to? I know of most all of the good cam companies out there but wanted to know who you guys thought was the best for a custom cam. Also how long will it take for a custom cam to be made? Thanks guys!

dont go to FTI. the workmanship is good, but customer service is ridiculously ****ty. when i had my 306, i had called up and they first answer the phone with "what do you want". then continued to be rude as hell. i also had other problems that i wont put out there bc i dont want to seem as if im trying to completely bad mouth them. Go with Jay Allen

I have had the best customer service from FTI on any product I have ever owned or bought for my car. I highly suggest calling Ed.

You will ALWAYS hear good and bad about a company. Its just not possible to keep 100% of the people satisified. Especially when u have people that work that probably dont like their job...or are having a bad day. I doubt Ed Curtis treated Allen like that. Probably some punk at the shop.

I've dealt with Ed C and Jay Allen so far....i have my likes and dislikes about each guy...the likes outweighing the dislikes for them both. One thing i can tell you is that they both go to the furthest extent of making sure everything is as good as it can be with you. I wouldnt think twice before going with either guy again.

Just a quick note, i've talked with Jay Allen on the phone for hours....discussing everything from my combination at the time to guys who give bad facts in threads. He clears A LOT of BS that you read on the forums up for me. Since he is local, i've even met him at the local McDonalds for lunch. Him and I have had our "disagreements" but none the less, Jay is a stand up guy who does what it takes for his customer.

Ed on the other hand...well...he takes some getting used to Im the type to always ask questions and to be looking for something to grasp onto in return. In the beginning, especially before you pay, Ed tells you the very least of what it takes to "satisfy" your question if that makes sense. But one thing i have noticed, is that when you show Ed you are a loyal customer, he comes out of that shell and starts doing and giving much more. He has helped me out a TON...something i never thought he would do in the beginning. Oh yea, and the $150 plus your first FTI custom cam trade in deal is great. Im not sure if u plan on keeping this combo for a while or not.

So....flip a coin....take your pick....out of these 2 guys, u cant lose. I think if i went somewhere else, it would be hitech. I've heard some good things about them.

I have no experience with Jay Allen, but Ed has been more than helpful. I've read some of Jays threads on a different forum and he deffinately clears the air on some misconceptions.

I got all my concerns taken care of by Ed before I ever gave him a dime. He spent time on the phone with me several times and we sent countless emails back and forth. After I became his customer he told me to contact him if any questions came up while waiting on the parts or during the upgrade. He even called me to check on things during the install.

My thoughts about Ed, Jay, or Buddy are this. All of them get tons of calls/emails from peeps who take lots of their time but yet they never receive a dime from all that time spent with those peeps.

You may say ...... that is part of the business and it is to be expected. I guess that is so
but
if you try and see it from their point of view.

Well

I've always heard car salesmen call peeps who come by and take their time but never buy a car ...... Tire Kickers.

My attitude was that before I ever called Ed, I was gonna do my due diligence and use these forums to get my act together for fact finding about common knowledge. That way I would not waste his time with bs q's.

Or in other words, I did NOT want Ed to think of me as a ... Tire Kicker.

On my first call to him, I had my main questions and concerns all listed on paper so I could stay on track and not take a lot of his time.

I feel my attitude came across to him that I was in fact gonna be his customer but I had a few things I wanted know that I could not find the answers to with my search.

btw, after my first phone call to him, he was quite the talker. He gave me all kinds of info and tips.

I would have done the same if I had dealt with Buddy or Jay.
