I have a 1980 2.3L Stang, It only has approx. 30,000 original miles on it, never drive it, but it started cutting out and dies at about 35 mph. I've had the Holley rebuilt and plugs and wires changed but it still does it. I even went with some advise about cutting the catalytic converter off and that didn't work. Can anyone help this illiterate fool of automobiles?

does it restart right after it dies? Almost sounds like a fuel starvation problem. Could be a weak fuel pump or clogged filter or lines.

Could be a number of things. TFI Module? Good chance it's a fuel starvation problem like Dr. said. There is a relay module that, when it gets hot can stop giving signals to your fuel pump telling it to work. But if your car dies just minutes after you start it, then I dont think it could be that. TFI module would be my best guesstimate. I'd also go out on a limb and say that it is almost definitely a computer problem and not a mechanical problem. Can you give us any more symptoms or details?

cutting out ride!

It does start right back up, but also if you catch it fast enough and put it in nuetral you can save it. I had a fella messing with the timing, unfortunately Auto Zone had 3 different settings, which none seemed to be right. But the more we advanced the timing the better it got. The weird thing is if you hold the brake and floor the throttle it will spin the tires without cutting out. It's weird. I really need to get the thing going, they say it's a limited edition, the only thing limited right now is the miles on it Does have a brand new fuel pump the carb. was rebuilt the filter air/fuel was replaced.
