I was installing new bulbs for my fog lights when the little crown piece inside the fog light housing fell off. It is now resting at the bottom of the housing. How do I get to this piece? Any help would be great! I am pretty pissed that this happens on my day off! Thanks guys!

Buy a new fog light assembly.

Unless you are inclined to try to repair the old one. They are about $50.

I also had that happen. I am afraid you may indeed have to buy a new one unless you are really luck and can shake that thing out.

I removed mine

I used a pair of needle nose pliers to fish mine out. I had to squeeze them smaller to fit through the opening and pulled them right out. Be careful to not scratch the reflecting surface inside the light.

If I pull them both out, will it change the way the lamps function?

I can't say I have noticed much difference, maybe a little wider light distribution. I put yellow bulbs in mine,
