I have a brand new crank that needs to be balanced. I have a late model 302 block with vbelt pulleys. I guess I can get a 28oz or 50oz balancer and matching flexplate? Do i have to buy any spacers or anything like that?

Is the crank intended for a late model 302? If so you would need the 50 oz balancer and flexplate.

If its intended for an early 302 your going need the 28 oz options. If you dont know which you'll probably have to ask the manufacturer, I dont know if a machine shop can tell what it is or not.

As far as I know the cranks should be the same with no spacers required. Any one know?

Most aftermarket harmonic balancers require a spacer to run a serpentine system. They should work fine for your v-belts. Cranks have the same output shaft diameters so both types of balancers will fit. You just need to determine which one to use.

You can't put a 28oz. flywheel and balancer on a crank that was meant for a 50oz. I have a late model 5.0 which needs a 50oz. balancer. You can purchase harmonic balancers for this crank for use with your 3-Bolt pulleys and v-belts. This is the approach I am taking to avoid clearance problems with serpentine systems and the front radiator.

There are some good deals to be had on Ebay for what you need. Click here.
