I posted a while back about some cooling issues I had and although I've managed to get it some what under control I'm still running hot when sitting in traffic or any other situation where the car is running and not moving quickly. To recap, I'm running a 331 stroker at 10-1 compression, I have a B-cool aluminum "direct fit" rad, with the 3.8 taurus fan and a DCC controller. I have recently installed a mr gasket 180 thermostat, and I have a stock 5.0 water pump. When I'm cruising on the parkway in 85-90 degree temps I'll run around 210-215, and even lower around 195-205 at night which is fine.. but the second I stop, for traffic, a light, or whatever my gauge nearly instantly starts to climb and I've seen it go all the way up to 230 which is waaayyyyy to hot for my liking. I'm really getting sick of staring at my temp gauge. I'm pretty sure that its just an air flow issue, but I really thought that the taurus fan should be sufficient, but now I'm thinking of trying a different e fan maybe.... maybe a dual fan set up or something. What do you guys think???
now I'm running 190-200 and not a hint over. I can't believe that this was the problem because I checked everything 2x already and I kept thinking I had it correct. :damnit: Now my DCC controller kicks that baby into high and that needle drops quick!!
