ok, i'll try to make this as short as possible. i was an alignment tech with goodyear for the past 2 1/2 years. i made good money, about $400 a week after taxes and insurance, and basically did what i wanted to around the shop, but didnt like the hours or manager. well the first of july i switched to another shop who promised me more money and better hours. i did get better hours, mon-thurs 10 hour days, but the money part didnt work out like i was told. when i applied i wanted an alignment tech position, well the past 6 weeks i have been changing oil and tires all day and doing at the most 5 alignments a week. i am bringing home less money, about $320 a week with no insurance,the new shop is 40 miles from my house (twice as far as the old job) i found out today that the manager thinks i'm lazy b/c i dont want to do oil changes and tires when i didnt apply for that job in the first place. i know for a fact that i will be leaving this new job very soon. i will not do crap work for less money than i was making before. anyways my choices are
1. go back to goodyear. i know i can get $11 an hour plus about a $100 a week commission check. i will have worse hours, almost no weekends off ever, and wont move up ever. put up with the crap and rack up on commission b/c the only other tech that was as fast as me is now gone. then look for a better job while still making good money.
or
2. work with one of my buddys doing fire sprinkler work. starting at $9.50 an hour, but be able to move up fairly quickly. he has been there less than a year and is at $14 already. the job is 10 miles from my house and is mon-fri no weekends. i would drive in a company truck to the job sites. they pay $100 a month on my insurance. i have no experiance in this line of work.
someone please help me out b/c i'm really confused about what to do.
