Hey everyone, I was hoping to get some help or suggestions.... Anyway, last week I got my cai I ordered from MAC. This kit took me 3 fu*king hrs to install!! My first problem came when I was trying to get the filter thru the hole in the fenderwell (it didnt fit thru) so I had to go underneath the car and bring the filter up that way. Instead of having the filter sitting horizontally it is vertical b/c thats they only way it would fit!! Because the filter is vertical I could not get the chrome fenderwell peice to attach to the car.... anyone have any suggestions or encountered the same problem?? Should I send it back??

you should send back the mac, they are not very good quality at all. Metal= bad too for heat reasons. the only way to get that filter on there is to put it through the shield first (pipe only) and get it sticking out a little bit into the fender. reach up from under the car past the weather shield and slide it on. get a flashlight and a long screwdriver and tighten it down. Thats about it. i would still say get rid of it if you can. just my .02 though. I have a densecharger, er tunable induction now, from demolet.com. that is one of the best, i used to have the same mac one as you, got rid of it.

Yea, I think I might send it back, if I can.... i've had it on my car for a week. Anyone know if the BBK kits are any good or will I have the same problem. Also if anyone has the MAC kit did you notice a whistling noise comming from the engine bay after installing the kit? I hear it when I am around 1,000RPM then it goes away

MAC sucks, the only thing they make well is their Midpipes and Prochamber. Their LTs suck and so do their CAIs. Get the STEEDA CAI

yeah it will whistle, especially the mac one. any cai will give you an air whooshing noise, just some worse than others. if you are getting a cold air intake, pick up a plastic one like demolet or the steeda one. There is one other that is good JLT i think? j something lol.

Been tested many of times that which the lenght of time the air gets sucked through the 'hot' air intake is not enough time to actually heat the air going into the engine.

With all said it's still a minimal gain even over factory inlet with k&n, which makes it not worth the money at all. It's a bling factor and kind of ricey.

According to the shop I purchased mine, the MAC and BBK are basically the same. I would definately try to return it and go with something inside the hood with a heat shield. Heck I figure most of them use a K&N filter so why not use the K&N FIPK. If I weren't going to add a supercharger soon that's what I would do.

I feel you on the MAC install, it was a PITA for me too. I even had it noted in my signature when I still had the '01 GT. I had the whistle also.
