HELP WITH MY HOLLEY !!

hi all
I have just rebuilt the Holley 600 with vac secondaries (4160) because the car was missing a bit and I thought this may cure it .... the only thing it may cure is the sales of a lot more gas here in Spain. The car starts ... but then there is a whole buch of gas flowing out of the hole at the centre of the front airhorn ... kind of worrying really ... I wish I'd never bothered now. I had no book or anything to guide me through the rebuild, but just took the thing apart renewing all the stuff that I found in the kit ... made by AED.
What have I done wrong?? The float levels originally were set (by the screwed down distance of the original needle valves) quite a bit higher in the back than the front. I have wound them to the similar distances on the rebuild.
How do I start setting this up from scratch??

Sounds like your needle and seat are stuck open or set way too high. With the bowl upside down in your hand the float should be set to as close to level as you can get it by turning the float adj. screw on the outside of the bowl. This gives you a good place to start when it is back on the car. Than adjust the float level by watching the sight plug hole while the car is idling for gas flow or lack of. If gas is coming out of it at idle adj. the float screw clockwise. It it is too low and not just barely coming out adj. it counterclockwise. Hope this helps. How much is gas per gallon in Spain?

I've been messing about and got the car to run by lowering the float levels .. there is no gas coming out of the air horn *hole* now ... the car is running, but still not ticking over and there is still a lot of gas coming from somewhere and finishing up in the valleys of the inlet manifold ... I'm just waiting for it to cool down a tad then I will get the missus to spy where the gas is coming from .. I'm sure I'm getting there!!
BTW the gas here is 90 cents .... per litre ... that is Euro cents. You are probably as confused as me, but that works out at around $5 US per gallon. Still that is much cheaper than in England which costs around $8 US per gallon .................. OUCH!!
