Engine Help with this block identification

Ok I have looked at casting decoders and I can only figure out the "E0AE" from what I read this means 1980 car motor. What do the other numbers mean? Is this a 302? The car is a 83 GLX mustang which to my knowledge only came with a v6. So someone has swapped this car, It has a C4 transmission. Just trying to figure out what motor this is. I appreciate any and all help as I am new to mustangs and trying to educate my self.

From what I see is E0AE D3C 19

There are some other numbers in the lifter valley and cylinder head.

The other numbers are usually casting date codes. They look like a plate with two screws on the sides and tend to follow a known standard.

Heads were cast on April 28th, 1984, and an Aug 1, 1984.


E0AE D3C block came in 79-84 cars, so it could be a 1984 engine. The block isn't anything special. It's one of the weakest and has a 2-peice rear main seal. Crank has to match that setup so you can't really swap in a later style crank.

E0xx block was only used in the 1983 model year for about the first four months of production, though about mid December 1982. Ford then switched to a block with a one-piece rear main seal, so the engineering number should have been updated to E2xx. Posted pics show date codes for the heads but not the block so I cant tell you what the block is.

1983 GLX could have 4-cyl non-turbo, 6-cyl, or 8-cyl. 1983 GLX convertible could have 6-cyl or 8-cyl.

There was no auto behind the 8-cyl in 1983. And C4 was last used in Mustang behind the 8-cyl in 1981.
