[Sounds of cursing]

Today my uncle offered to install the radiator that I recently purchased for my Stang - He was doing good, until he sheared off the flange that the upper radiator hose mates with on the engine.

Can I buy a replacement for it at AutoZone? If not, what can be done in the meantime?

And if I can buy a replacement, how involved is it to install?

If I cannot buy a replacement, I suppose I'll have to strip a junkyard Stang of it, or, as a last resort, buy it from a dealer.

the flange? You mean the thermostat housing broke off? If so, yes. it is bolted on with 2 small bolts, and is replacable.

Thanks for the quick reply.

How hard is it to replace, once I have the part to replace it with? I have almost no knowledge of working on the car, and naturaully dread doing it myself, though I'd love to learn sometime. I can do simple stuff like changing the oil, but that's about the extent of my abilities. Hopefully I can bribe a friend with some beer.

Just a thermostat housing by the sounds of it. It is as simple as undoing bolt 1, undoing bolt 2, replace new thermostat housing into same spot, secure it with bolt 1 and bolt 2. Just take a look. I think when I replaced mine it was about a $20 part. Good luck.

1/4 inch drive 10 mm socket with a little swivel just follow how you took it off to put back on.
Don't crank the bolts to tight or it will leak on ya. Snug them up and then a little less then a 1/4 turn.
Double check your antifreeze refill if nec. then run it and see if it leaks after it warms up and when you shut her down when she is cooling off.
If succesfull pat thy self on back!!!
