HELP

Hey guys I just picked up a 88 gt (speed density) for some reason the car wont rev over 3000 rpms. At 3 grand it starts to pops and bounce back and forth. at first I thought it was was fuel problem so I changed the pump, didnt help. the car has a msd distributer cap and a sticker that says it has a msd ignition installed in california. can anyone please help with some info.

What codes did you get?

Have you bypassed the ignition box to see if the issue goes away?

Do you run platinum plugs?

Have you had the TFI tested?

Theirs no msd box just the msd dis cap. Ill try swaping the TFI tomorrow. Im not sure about the plugs I have to check.

I'd start with the codes. That might give a clue.

Having the TFI tested can save some cash, though bench tests often do catch intermittant or situational issues.

A buddy with a TFI and coil you can swap is always helpful for diagnostics.
