Hi everyone :D I have been reading alot of posts on here in hopes SOMEONE can help.. I have an 02 mustang gt 5 spd.. with no mods to the engine or tranny.. only suspension and a few cosmetics.. I have a couple questions

1. what type of gas should I be running in her?? I dont know if this is coincidence.. but I filled up with reg. octane.. and my car runs like crap!! it hesitates.. spudders.. gas smells.. and looses all power...

2. I recently replaced both upstream 02 sensors..

3. car feels as though it is trying to suck air and idles low and bounces from 750 rpms to about 1200 rpms..

I have cleaned MAF.. (I tried running it with maf disconnected..stalled out)

egr valve cleaned( though there doesnt seem to be alot of suction going to it and seems to idle a little better with hose off but in gear still hesitates and stumbles...
replaced dpfe sensor which did nothing!!the hoses kept blowing off..

plugs.. which one of my plugs was drenched in oil..
there is also a newly developed rapping noise coming from pass side rear of engine..

WHAT SHOULD I BE CHECKING I SUPPOSE IS MY QUESTION IS?????

I should mention that if she is in neutral it does not hesitate as much... only when under load.. and uphill forget it..gas mileage is AWFUL!!

I love this car..no one has any fixes for me :( just want it running good again.. any info you can give i will try.. keep you all informed.

Since you don't have a performance tune, 87 octane is fine. Make sure you're not getting crappy quality gas, though.

Where was the plug drenched in oil? Near the electrode (the part that its INSIDE the engine?), or the top part of the plug that sticks out of the head (where your coil sits on top of the plug)?

Either way, it sounds like you're experiencing a misfire. If the part of the plug that sits inside the engine is covered in oil, you have a big problem. Either valve guide/seal or a damaged piston or piston ring.

If it's the top of the plug where it sticks out of the head, you could have a valve cover gasket leak and oil is fouling the connection between the spark plug and coil pack and causing it to misfire.

If you have access to a compression tester, I would perform a compression test on at least the cylinder with the oily plug. I would go ahead and do the rest of the cylinders and compare the results. Depending on your mileage, a healthy engine is going to be between 150-180psi per cylinder, and the cylinders should not vary more than 10% of each other.

The nose you're hearing... is it a ticking, tapping, knocking? Is it a light noise, or something deep and heavy? The noise on top of having oil potentially in that cylinder is pretty concerning.

Check the oil on your dipstick... wipe the dipstick onto a clean paper towel or rag. Are there any metallic shavings in the oil? What is the color of the oil? Does it smell excessively of gasoline (a little gas odor is going to be present)?

THANKS for getting back to me so soon...

I have been out there all day messing with this thing.. the oil is on the top of the plug and on the threads..

I noticed that my drivers side exhaust is blowing cold air..

I recently replaced both upstream 02 sensors.. and have a p0113 and p1151 code.. are they related in anyway??

also when I unplug the injectors.. the drivers sside doesn't seem to do much..

It is more of a tapping noise and a bad gas smell..
also the hoses that connect to the dpfe sensor keep blowing off.. ERRRR???? I'm lost..

Thanks alot
