When I was 19 I had a chance to buy an 03 cobra and the insurance was way to expensive so I bought a 00 GT instead and even that was expensive at the time but I still managed. Do what these people are telling u put a vortech procharger or turbo on it u will make good power and be happy

When I was 19 I had statefarm and I asked them for a quote on the 04 cobra I was going to buy with a little help from the parents at the time and it ran 1100 a month it might be different now but that's how much it was back then

That's not bad at all just call your insurance a call tomorrow and ask them for a quote. The best idea is just go what these people are telling u spend that money and put a vortech or procharger on your car u can easily make 370-400rwhp on 8-10psi depends on how much boost u put on but I'm sure you heard about how bad the bottom ends are on the 96-04 GT's anyways with that power u will give the new 2010 camaro's a fit or beat them. I put a p1sc procharger on my 00 GT a Long time ago and made 440rwhp on 11psi and blew it up but it still made good power while it lasted the the kit costed me 4k here's a pic an old one

With a blower you will be fine making 350-400rwhp or 390rwhp but I'd say 420-450rwhp your motor is a ticking time bomb eventually it will blow up or start making noises in the bottom end like mine did in 3 months but from 350-400rwhp as long as u drive your car normally get on it a few times your car should last if you beat the piss out of it alot eventually u will break something good in it

For the $ you are looking to throw into putting a cobra engine, you could build a bulletproof super or turbo charged 2v.

I would first think about what you really want. Whether it be a mid 12sec DD, a 10sec monster at the 1/4, or a corner carving SCCA/NASA car.

Then look at how much you have to spend, and only used 66% of that. So if you have 9K, plan on spending 6k.

Then take baby steps and increase the power/suspension bit by bit.

If I had 9k, I would look at an ON3 Performance turbo kit, and since I would need a new K-member etc I would look at Maximum Motorsports for a full suspension overhaul and pick up a used midpipe and catback. Dial it in for low boost and save up for beefing up the internals of the engine. Maybe even getting a junkyard aluminum Explorer engine and building that up along side the car and when its done have it swapped in. But I have very little tech skills to do that haha.

That would be about $2500 for the ON3 with injectors, SVT Focus Fuel pump, Better MAF, and upgraded turbo.
I would expect to drop $2500 on the MM setup
Then you can spend the rest on a new clutch, exhaust, short throw and brakes.

A very easy way to spend $7k and I am only talking about parts, not even labor...

You could easily spend $10-15k on a "fully" setup car and I use the "'s on purpose, because there is always money to be spent or things to fix.

Wait and see what the insurance says, it might cost you an extra 2k/year to insure the cobra
