I have a 88 gt it has a 306 bottom with gt40p heads ,bbk shorty headers, bbk ssi intake, and bbk 70mm tb. About 2 weeks ago I started having problems with the idle. It would surge then die. I thought it was due to the lack of fuel so I installed a set of 24lb injectors from a mark viii and a c&l 73mm mas air with the blue sample tube. I also found and replaced a bad plug wire on my #7 plug. I checked the codes and my scan tool said I have a bad o2 sensor. I replaced the one on the passenger side because I wired a rich lean gauge to it just a few days before the problem started. I rechecked the codes and it was ok. I also checked for a vacuum leak and replaced my map sensor, mas air sensor, and coolant temp sensor. now the car idles at 2000 rpms. And my headers get red hot where they connect to my h pipe. Im lost please help.

I forgot to add I also have a msd 6al box.

Run the codes before you chase any more dead ends.
