Origional thread....

More added...

Hey guys... i thought this was clutch related at first... but now i dont have the slightest idea... Under ,load my car spudders and hesitates... Really bad... one second its happens the next it doesent... Some times when i rev the car it back fires... Well just recently i took it for a drive to see if i could find anything else out about the problem... Ive noticed for some reason the car only breaks up when its under about 2-3k RPMS Once it hits around 2500 rpms the car launches forward as my girlfriend says "like a rocketship" an is fine... i shift in to second if its under 2k it stumbles like hell again then at 2.5k lays my ass back in to the seat... it wasnt really doing this b4... the car was sitting for about 2 weeks while i was finding time to change the clutch... I also noticed a burning smell when i got out of the car...So far i figured it might be bad wires or plugs... So i replaced the plugs and wires... Next i moves on to the ditsy cap and rotor.... No help there... i also noticed when i slightly tapped on the throttle the motor would almost die... That only happend for a bit however.... But it lead me to think fuel... So i just put some water remover in the tank.... and some 93 octane... it then stopped acting up for a bit and now its acting like ass again... I dont know what to think... PIP maybe, Fuel Filter, Fuel pump... I dont know... I bought a used catted H... i guess there is a chance of it being clogged up... Or possibly an egr vavle... i did look at the valve when i reved the motor and the orange piece does move slightly.... Any help would be great... i gotta get the car back on the road by sunday to head back to school... i also have a paper to write.. so i dont have much time... ANY HELP would be great... This is really pissing me off...

I also just came accross this... which seems like the same problem i was having... when i pulled my cap and rotor they were pretty chewed up... there was a little dirt or something in the bottom of the ditsy... Im not sure can you buy a pip or do you need to buy a new ditsy...

idle is good for the most part... No real problems there... Whats our plugs suposed to be gapped at... i read .052-.056... im still thinking that PIP in the ditsy or something... what does PIP stand for anyway... Pain In my Penis???

Sprayed around the bay with carb cleaner yesterday.. no difference... so i guess no vac leaks... would an exhaust leak cause something like this???

i dont think so unless it was a pretty bad one.

it could be the pip sensor. i think their~40 or you can just buy a reman dizzy so you dont have to take the stocker all apart

have you checked timing at all?

Have you pulled codes and/or cleaned the MAF? Those are a couple places I'd start. While pulling codes, run the CBT for fun.

Good luck.

If it does end up being the PIP its easier to just get a new dizzy. You need a press or some **** to change the PIP.

And its not hard at all to change,

Yea, just change them both.

This is why I bought a code puller. You dont spend NEARLY as much time diagnosing the problem. That and the guys here can help you alot better if you have the codes. Thats always the first thing I do and I do it like every other week just to see if there is anything wrong.

If one spits both lambdas, it's wise to look for systemic reasons for running lean - vac leaks, MAF issues, etc before buying a new set of O2's. You can check the O2's function with a meter and about 5 minutes of spare time.

Good luck.

This is just a guess on my part

A while back, someone said if you knocked or banged on an O2 it could cause it to go bad.

Perhaps something similar to that happened to you when you were doing the clutch thing
