Hesitation Issue

Hey guys, lately I've noticed that when I grab 2nd gear hard, it will chirp the tires like always, but then it will hesitate a bit and start acclerating again. It almost feels like the traction control is on, but it's not. Any ideas on what this could be? The car has 31k on it, fuel filter was replaced 5k miles ago, and I just replaced the IAC last week.

Any help is appreciated!

you probally have a misfire.. one way to test this is to go up a hill at low rpm's and try to accelerate. if it bucks and jerks you have a misfire.

if this is the case then change your plugs.

It's funny you mention a misfire, I just cleaned my motor the other day and it has just started doing it since then. Maybe some water got into the coils or something?

don't want to jack this thread....but does somebody have a nice link to different examples of damaged plugs...I was checkin mine the other day....but I don't know what the heck to look for....I thought I was having a misfire a few weeks back, but it kinda solved itself....I'd still like to know if I should replace the plugs though

Take a leaf blower, if you have one, and blow off your engine really well. Also, disconnect your batt for a few to reset everything, see if that works.

Do you have a Haynes or Chiltons manual for your car? They have pics in them.

LOL If anybody washes their engine you are going to experience hesitaion sooner or later! Water does get into you spark plug resvior and will foul out your plug or even your coil packs! If a little bit of water/ moisture gets in there it will hesitate for a while....maybe a day or 2 and evaporate........then run normal again! If they get soaked....pull out your COP and look to se if you got rust spots on the bottom! If you do you probably have a fouled plug! I Highly suggest that you take an air hose to th resevior before you pull out the plug....if water is in there it will go straight to you engine!

Yeah you probally got water in the plug wells.. remove all the coils and blow them out untill dry then it should run fine..

Here is a suggestion to prevent future water issues:

What I do is take all the rubber boots off the COPs, the boots that cover the spring that connects the COP to the plug.

Then I put them all in a bucket of warm soapy water and slosh it around and clean them thoroughly.

Then I dry them.

Then I coat each one of them well, inside and out, with silicone spray.

Finally I put a nice dab of silicone dielectric grease on each end of the spring and put it all back together.

When I pull my COPs they come off super easy and make a cork-popping sound cause they all have a rock solid seal

You're the man...I never really thought about it before....but we do a lot of work to seal up the plugs on the boats I'm always workin on....never really put 2 and 2 together to think about doing sum extra work to seal up the cop's on my car though....good advice
