Hesitation Problem

I have an 03' GT Convertable with no modifications. The car has 43,000 miles on it and I am starting to experience hesitation problems.

- When accelerating under 2000 rpms the car sputers (hesitates, spits, small power losses, feels like it is running out of gas).

- From 2000 to 2500 rpms the problem gets a bit better but you can still feel it.

- Over 2500 rpms the problem is faint.

I replaced the fuel filter and air filter with no luck. I am going to try Slick50 fuel system additive to try and clean the injecters.

Any one else experience this?

Any thoughts on what it could be? (a vacuum problem? plugs? coil?)

HELP????? Thanks.....

did you just buy gas?i had that problem once and the gas had water in it.if it is gas buy the fuel treatment and it will disperse the water into smaller molecules so it gets mixed a little better.my next thought would be spark plug coils, plugs, or wires.if its the water in the fule you'll have to change the filter again.

i have the same problem with my 96 gt. it feels like a really bad miss under acceleration. my fades in the upper rpm but is still present. i replaced my fuel filter about two weeks ago. im putting in new plugs today. wires are in good shape. if this doesnt work im going to assume it is a fuel problem. can i hook up a fuel pressure tester to check fuel pressure to see if the pump is bad. also how much of a pain is it to change the pump?????

I had a problem like this (car has 39K miles), except the hesitation was mostly at WOT. Took it to the shop after replacing plugs and filters myself. They put it on the dyno and hooked up a pressure tester to the fuel rail. Turned out to be the fuel pump, which is a tough job. I think you gotta take the fuel tank completely off to replace the pump. Also, if it's not reinstalled right you could have leaks.

I got the same problem sometimes, I think I just need a retune since I only had this problem after I got the blower in. Its very annoying and my car dies sometimes coming to a stop and idle.

i have an 02 gt, with plenty of mods, and my car does the same thing as well, and it doesnt matter if it is cold or warm outside. i heard that it may be the cold start injector (but i dont kno if ours cars have one) and that it may be malfunctioning. i do not kno how to fix it, maybe clean it, do some computer work, or replace it. but for me, it only does it in the first minute i drive my car, then it stops. hope that may lead you in the right direction
