My daughter has a 2005 mustang gt 4.6 and it has a bad hesitation issue when taking off and also in 2nd gear. It also looses power at around 4000 rpm. The error code said the cam position sensor was faulty so I replaced it and it still does the same thing. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Do you still have the cam position sensor code, or any other codes?
The problem may lie elsewhere e.g. sticking VCT solenoid, bad alternator diode.

After installing both cam position sensors, the codes are as follows: P0446, P0443, P0141 and P0020. And sometimes when it hesitates, she smells gas.

OK, so you now have codes for:

1. Vapor Canister Purge Valve
2. Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit
3. Failure in one of the elements that heat the oxygen sensors, specifically bank 1 sensor 2, which is downstream from the catalytic converter
4. "B" Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit (Bank 2)

Replacing the VCT solenoid on the driver's side might solve all of those problems.

Ok, Thanks Bullitt, I'll try that and let you know. At least it's not an expensive issue to replace. Hell, I'd piss on a spark plug if it'd help.

well, replacing the VCT solenoid didn't change anything. Will be installing a Throttle position sensor tomorrow and see if anything gets better.
I hate all this electronic crap. I love my old school 73 Maverick 302. Easy to diagnose any issues.
