Since it seems like everyone has a winter project going with a thread documenting it, I figured I would join in.

Some of you might remember that last winter I smoothed the engine bay and painted the front clip. Well, this winter I'm painting the rest of the car. It's a rust free car, but it had the typical door dings that go along with a 15 yr old vehicle, and the roof looked like someone had walked on it behind the sunroof.

While the interior was out I welded in torque box reinforcements, and added a lot of reinforcing welds to the both the upper and lower boxes. This past weekend I finally painted the majority of it. I still need to paint the hatch, bumper and ground effects.

Thanks guys.

ALL work was done by me. I'll try to get some better pictures next month when it's all back together.

I do a lot of paint work myself in my shop...no booth...just like you did. The paint looks excellent. It laid perfectly and the thing really really shines with a deep wet look. Keep the pics coming man! You're doing great!

Thanks again guys. To answer the above questions:
Yes, the stripes are painted. The black actually gets painted first, then I mask off the stripes and paint all the red, peel off the tape, and clear everything.
I've been painting for 3 yrs now - just my own projects and friend's stuff. As a summer job when I was in college, I worked at a body shop, doing really bottom of the barrel work. However, I learned A LOT while working there - that job was in many ways priceless.
Flavadave - I love seeing "garage job" pics too. All I do to prep my garage is turn on my window fan (facing out as an exhaust fan), and keep the floor wet. Seems to work well.

looks freakin sweet! do you have any more pics of how you installed your torque box kit? i have what looks to be the same kit and still need to do this. how does the backseat fit with the bolts sticking up from the floor pan on the upper torque boxes? i was looking at that on my kit and started wondering. keep us updated!

Made some more progress - doors are on the car, interior is getting back into shape (re-did the door panels too), wet sanded and buffed probably half the car. Right now I'm doing some body work on the hatch, and then the hatch and back bumper will be painted. More pics:
