Got the car about three years ago. Has heads cam intake exhaust mods, the guy I bought it from drove it a handful of times and then let it sit in his driveway for 6 years. Has 113k miles triple black gt.

I spent the first year with it learning the foxbody ropes and really learning how to do extensive work on cars in general. This is my first project car. I pretty much replaced everything you can on the engine without actually removing it to give it a complete tune up. I also redid the suspension with new springs and shocks.

The second and third year I’ve owned it have been the paint job years… I completely disassembled the exterior and interior for the resto. The car was sandblasted down to bare metal and received a ford tuxedo black paint job. Almost two years later (had to deal with the guys painting my car taking forever) I now have the car back and it’s almost done. I’m still waiting on the hood, front bumper, and body kit to be finished wet sanding. However I have reinstalled most of the interior and all of the exterior parts I can. Here’s some pics below of the progress.

Here’s when I got it

This is during the sand blasting process, and also when it had a new donor door jamb and sunroof welded in to replace my rusted ones.

Looking good! Why’d the paint shop take so long?
Thanks man! It’s a long story… pretty much a guy I know owns the metal shop that did the sandblasting for me and he has a guy there who paints cars so he let me deal with and pay that guy directly so it’d be cheaper. Pretty much that guy took on way too many cars at once and it was one story after another and the time just went by. I ended up having to take the car to another guy to wet sand and polish it and he’s who’s finishing it up for me now.

I disassembled the car then ended up having to wait a couple months for the guy to be ready to sand blast it, then I had to wait for the welding work to be done.

Then the painter took forever to tell me he was ready to pick up my car to start, that was probably 3-4 months. Then once he picked it up he didn’t start it for probably 6 months. It was just stuff like that over and over and now we’re at the about two year mark for this project.

Nice job, those rusted spots remind me of my east coast youth and all the rust buckets I use to drive.Heck one car from jersey I got was a Buick Apollo (nova) the front and rear bumpers fell off.

Lol yea it was a New York car so dealing with the rust has been somewhat frustrating. It still has the frame rail rust common with these cars but I was able to spray it with one of those internal frame rail sprays to slow down the rust. It’s ok for now but down the line I’ll have to pull the engine and have the frame rails repaired. But I should be able to enjoy the car for a few years before that needs to happen

Seems like the way it is these days. My painter of over 25 years retired like 5 years ago. Last year my wife rear ended someone with my 89 and bent the hood and core support slightly. I was hard to find someone to "fix" the car. I would say 80% of the body shops in my area do not want to work on old cars. The remaining 20% seem like they just want to replace parts and shoot it. Nobody wants to take the time to repair the original front bumper, which was fine, just weathered from the paint that flaked off throughout the years. She needed some love. While I was at it, I wanted all the ground effects painted to match (Tu tone) First body shop I took it to did not work due to them being flakes. I tore the car all apart only to have them ghost me. I few months later, I found a second one took the job but I am not super happy with the work nor am I happy with what it cost me. Needless to say I will not be giving them any more business. Took me darn near 9 months to get my car back on the road from when the accident occurred.

You car is looking sharp:nice:

Looks good.

Are those real Cobra R's? If so, might want to see if they are the M179's or R58's. Prices on those are creeping up so take care of them.
From what I know they are real. They have all the markings on the inside, hinodex, made in Japan, 17x9. Pretty sure they’re the R58s. I just got new sve wheels for the car, but I will be stowing these away because I assumed they’ll go up in value. Maybe in the future I have them restored and put them back on, it is a great looking wheel.

How much are they worth?
