Back in highschool I had a '65 notch done up to look like a GT350 coupe and it was decently quick, maybe a low 14 second car. My friend had a nearly stock '65 Olds Cutlass with the raked look and small engine. He thought it was the fasted thing since space travel, so naturally all he gave me was chop-bustin'. Then he got the stock '69 Camaro RS auto.....oh boy. I don't think anyone even talked to me about the '65 when I had it.

Now with the '68, I had one highschooler with a Contour say "nice car" and "what did it cost?" at a gas station. Before that a New Zealander at the post office asked me if I'd sell it.

Aside from looks while I'm driving, that is seriously the only attention any of my (4) Mustangs have recieved.

About the only thing that would piss me off is if someone called mine an Eleanore (which hasn't happened yet). Well that and the one time someone swore up & down that I didn't have a 67 because he used to have a 67 and it looked nothing like mine. And even then it was more that he was treating me like I was just some stupid girl that didn't know what I had than the fact that he had the year wrong.

I get wrong years all the time. I get 68 & 69 a lot and once got a 53. Oddly enough, people rarely guess correctly even though I have 1967 license plate frames on the front & back. That doesn't bother me, though. It also doesn't bother me too much when people ask if I want to sell it (most of the time I know they're not serious).

Come on, you know you've been asked that!

I usually respond: "Nope, just a 283".

I see that you're relatively new here. FYI, the mods don't move talk threads to talk. And the Tech FAQ is in the Talk Section.

EDIT: Haha. I just realized you were requesting to move your own post. Thought you were trying to clean thing up.

Hey now, wait a durn minute there....

oh, wait you said Elenor, not Eleanor...ok then.

If someone said nice Eleanor to me (regarding the 73), I'd be happy. But I don't think that was where you were going with this....

If I had a dirty yellow '71-73 and someone said "nice Eleanor" to me, I'd be more surprised that they knew about the original 1974 film than anything else.

They have been showing a lot of Halicki's films on the Speed channel lately. Tonight (7/15) at 10:30pm is "Deadline Auto Theft". Most of his films include a lot of auto crashes. The original "Gone" was his greatest (but cheezy by todays standards). Got to love his low budget techniques though..

When my car finally makes it back on the road I don't think I would mind if anyone called it an Eleanor. But I might come back and say that her name isn't Eleanor it's Melissa.
I'd do that because my girlfriend's name is Melissa and she found the car here in Wichita Falls for me. She reminds me of this just about any time the car comes up in a conversation. So I quess it's the least I could do.

Heck, the 2000 remake was cheezy also. Not low budget, though.

Well, since she's not just going to be yellow, but actually being made to look like the original Eleanor, so yeah...But we've shown the car in her "under construction" state and had a die cast on the car of Eleanor, and it seems a lot of people knew about the real (original) Gone.
