Well it's been 10 years since the last stang sat in my drive way.But for my wifes b-day i surprised her with a 99 gt.I found it at a local repair shop where it had sat for 1.5 years,(the owner could not pay)I have reciepts for a new crate motor,tranny,lt headers true duels and flows and eibach springs.the shop owner wanted what he had in it,so i coughed up 5000 and thought i'd make the wife happy.so far it runs fine,but it has had some issues.1,when first getting on the highway in the a.m. when u get up to speed it will miss and sputter for a few seconds then it will run fine for the rest of the day.2,the wipers will come on by themselves sometimes make one sweep and thats it.3,the batt light comes on in the a.m. for a min or 2 the volt gauge doesn't change and the light goes out after few.could all this be a loose ground from the install? Regardless She loves it,I like it even though i still tell her she has a lot of mods to do before she can talk sh!$ to me!!

Does it have subframe connectors?? How do the torque boxes look? As far as the spuddering, give it a full tune up.

Seeing as it sat for that long Im suprised its running as smoothly as it is. As mentioned above, give it a tune-up and it should purr like a kitten.

well let me be the first to congratulate you. doesn't matter what you pay, you have a Mustang! I would check the battery voltage and have it load checked at any reputable parts store. Also buy a Haynes workshop manual and do a tune up. The manual will help you with simple repairs and also supplies some wiring schematics. Enjoy the car.

That was my first thought - also check/replace the fuel filter.

I would also recommend checking/cleaning all of the body electrical grounds as well since it has been sitting for a while.

For the wipers;
1.) Remove the wipers
2.) Remove the plastic cover cowl (http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm236/yellow02mustang/DSC00084.jpg), careful cuz it can crack... mine cracked like twice lol... so be careful...
3.) Locate the little wiper motor... looks something like this, facing left (http://sn4wd.com/~mike/truck_parts/INTERIOR/WIPER_MOTOR.JPG)
4.) hit the cylindrical shaped thing with a hammer... be careful, dont hit it too hard... try and see if it fixes it... if not, you might need to replace it

Ok,sorry I haven't follewed up.Just got home from a 700 mile round trip,the stang did great,the stumbling seems to have cleared up.I've checked the charging system and load tested the battery both checked fine.And with the quirks being so intermitten i will let them slide untill unless they begin to be a problem

Is the 18 month old gas still in the tank.. If so drain the tank, thats what I had to do to my car and it was only a year not a year and a half and my gas was really bad, hardly lit even holding a lighter to a puddle of it.

Shop owner drained the tank prior to putting it out for sale,said that it was hard to get started.Anyhow it has cleared up,may have been from detailing and pressure washing??She can enjoy it and i'll fix any other probs when they last long enough to diagnose.It's not her dd anyway.she has a 98 sho for that.
