Hi
New to the forum and I can't wait to get started. I bought my dream car after saving for the last 15yrs. And combing through craigs list, ebay, and various other resources for the past 5yrs. I knew exactly what I wanted and the wait paid off. I Picked up a mostly sorted 65 gt A code 4-speed car in vintage burgundy. It was built almost exactly as I would have built it myself, and it has 6k on the resto. The engine is not the original, as the original was magna fluxed and was found to have a hairline crack in it. So it has a latter hi-po 289 built to mostly K code specs. It has roller rockers, a period correct dual quad intake, 390 cfm holly's, creamic tri y headers and some other goodies . It dynoed out at 306hp at the crank. I have the factory 4speed, but it has the t-5 conversion. Right now I am working on the brakes and sorting out some oil drips mostly due to the valve cover adaptor's. Also have have a few other small issues, no seat belts, leaking chrome thermostat housing, ect. But I love wrenching so I am really looking forward to this project.

I have already learned a lot on here, first order of business is the brakes they are minimal at best. I am going to bleed them this weekend and try to figure out what system I have. They are 4 wheel discs, but it still has the stock MC with a non stock distribution vavle.

Very nice man!

Here.... I've got somebody that I'd like you to meet: @horse sence

He'll get your thread situated into the right place and maybe introduce you to some other folks that have answers to most anything about Stangs of this era.

How does it drive for ya? What do you want more of?

Good luck with the brake project. Looking forward to watching that project.

Thank you very much, it drives great but it doesn't stop the best! So I definitely want some better binders. It has discs on the rear, however it still has the factory MC, I think I might have a line that is compromised, I seem to have a leak that is coming off the line, but I can't discern the brake fluid from the motor oil that is leaking out of the valve cover adaptors (I hope). It has big block Cobra LeMans covers with an aluminum adaptor in-between the heads and covers. I have some good rubber valve cover gaskets on order, and a tube of hi-temp ready to go, at least I am hoping that is the majority of the leaks. I think I am going to upgrade to a dual bowl MC, but first I am going to get everything cleaned up, bleed the system, just to see where I am at.
The car runs drives, and steers fantastic, I have waited a long time for this car! I have some seat belts on order, and some rear seat belt brackets, (it didn't have any of the holes drilled for the rear, from what I could tell). I did locate the holes in the front, I was able to confirm the threads are good on the ones in the tunnel, but I am not sure on the ones in the floor supports, I was able to find the holes with a needle through the carpet, I suppose the best thing to do is to peel the carpet up and make sure before I cut any holes in the carpet?

An ice pic is good for finding the seat belt holes .65s do not have seat belts in the rear seat area, that started in 66 .The holes can be drilled , and a kit to mount the belts can be purchased through most Mustang parts venders .
