So I just got done tearing down a 2000 Crown Vic Police Interceptor engine that I got my hands on. As it's obviously a non-P.I. motor, the only thing I'm using is the block and I'm going to sell the rest cheap (the motor was in great shape). My plans are to do a forged/supercharged build to drop into my '96 GT Vert. I already have my rotating assembly picked out as well as all of the vitals, but I need to know two things:

A. Where is there a reputable machine shop around the NJ/PA/NY area to acid bath and resurface (and possibly powder coat) the block? Not some "Sam's Garage" type of place but a legit machine shop that can be trusted to do the block well. I don't mind shipping the block out if anybody knows of a great machine shop out of my area.

B. How far can I push this block as far as horsepower? Before I pick my supercharger and decide how I want her tuned, I need to know my limitations.

Thanks!

The block will handle a lot of HP. I don't see why it couldn't handle everybit of 500HP. As long as the tune is good.

The block is good for more power than you will probably ever be able to throw at it. Look at SaleenGT2001's horsepower. Its all about the quality of internals you throw in it.

Wow! Thanks a lot for the info so far - really glad to hear that. But keep throwing names of machine shops my way. I will check out Victory Engines though. I don't mind shipping it.

No Thanks and MACHINE SHOPS!!!

That sounds tempting but like our friend said - somthing doesn't sound right about that, AND I have to take the build one step at a time - not only for my own satisfaction of building the engine myself, but also to stick to a budget that definitly wouldn't allow paying that much in one shot. That's steep anyway (unless most of the cost came from the builder). The forged rotating assembly, heads, cams, intake and everything else aren't even going to cost me what your selling yours for. But again - thanks for the offer.

But seriously, I'm guessing that I'm not the first person in history to build a 4.6L from a used block, so SOMEONE has to have had their block bathed and resurfaced somewhere - let me know where to go. She's ready!
