My idle reads from 1200-1500rpm which seems a little high to me. It seems like it just started doing this. It is not surging or anything. Just a high idle. How do I lower it?

Pull the codes to see if the IAC is hanging up. THen check for vac leaks.

Otherwise, you can cause more problems than-not by hosing with the idle setting to compensate for a component failure.

Good luck.

If it was fine and now its not that tells you something has screwed up. I wouldn't adjust anything. Pull the codes, check for vacuum leaks and check/clean the iac. When mine did that this past summer, it was a vacuum cap that had came apart.

just fixed it. All it was was that frickin idle positioner screw thing. I guess taht $60 IAC was a waste. But I also got it smogged (barely).
How did it get out of adjustment? When it was idling high, did disconnecting the IAC electrical connector bring the idle down?

Anyhow, glad to hear it's fixored.

I think before I just wasnt paying attention to how high it was idleing but I guess it was high before too. It was probably adjusted like that because the previous owner probably thought it would run better or at least sound better with the cracked head and mild cam. I did try to disconnect the IAC and nothing happened.
