high oil pressure

Hey everybody..OK, i know that our stock gauges pretty much suck and don't give very accurate readings but mine has gone from usually about on the R or M to a little past the L in normal. i know it's probably nothing and that i should get a new gauge to check but is there anything i could do to prevent high oil pressure or make it go back down. also, what happens when it is high? does it even matter

Sub-Question: I need to put coolant in my car and i'm not sure what kind. my boyfriend says a) water, or b) look in the manual but the last couple of questions i've had the manual was no help so i figured i'd ask on here just to cover all my bases. Thanks in advance for the help

High oil pressure out of a stock oil pump is very common and is a good thing. It's only when you use high volume or high pressure oil pumps when they are not needed and will cause problems.
