high oil pressure

well im just askin this to make sure nothing BAD happens.... i got the car about 8 months ago and replaced the oil pressure sending unit not llong after that, because it was leaking and therefore reporting lower oil pressure than what it actually was... well the past week or so my gauge has been about on the M or A in NORMAL (84 stock gauges) i asked my dad about it and he said that oil pressure usually goes the other way, i shouldnt worry about it and that its probably just the sending unit messing up. ive checked oil level and its perfect, just wanted to bounce this off of you guys as a triple check, i guess. thank yous

if you have doubts, i would get a real gauge (if only a 10 dollar parts store version) to know for sure. the bypass could be stuck, etc. it would be good to know for sure.
