Just browsing through the 2004 Ford Racing Performance Parts catalog and on page 40 they lis a "High Performance Engine Management Computer". One is for a 1996-97 Auotmatic Transmission and the other for a 1996-97 Manual Transmission. The write up indicates it requires premium fuel and recommended for use with M-6049-D46 High Performance Cylinder Heads (wish I had a set of those!). So, my question is this...if I have port and polished heads with SHM 2730 cams (.500 lift, 230 duration I/E), will this computer work with my setup? Anyone out there using either of these computers and if so, what is your opinion/knowledge of it? If it's just a timing increase, I already have that with the Steeda adjustable timing kit. Any takers? Thanks. :D

Your stock computer is fine. Those computers are actually just custom for a particular setup. Which is not your setup. If you get your heads ported and polished, if you decide to do cam work, or if you just want a custom computer program for your car, just give Superchips Tuning a call. They do dyno tunes, computer chips, and they even have a custom programmer. All of which would be better than that computer FRPP carries. At least in terms of your application.
