As soon as I start my car I get this high pitched whirring sound. Kind of like a cricket going really fast.

It doesn't change in pitch or speed when I drive. It's just constant.

Any ideas? The only thing wrong with my dash that I know of is the fuel guage doesn't work.

Thanks for any tips.

Noises can be hard to track down - could it be the TOB?

The speedo cable was what came to my mind first also, but they normally change pitch as the car's speed changes.

Good luck.

I don't hear the sound under the hood at all really. It's definitely in dash. The speedo works fine, doesn't even bounce really at low speed. And my heater core is busted so I never run the blower.

Crap. :\

Are you sure it's not the speaker? Maybe a bad connection or loose wire?

It makes the sound even when the radio is off but that is worth checking out. I'll pull that top one and see what happens.

Thanks.

I had a high pitch sound like that. It turned out to be the air bag module making noise. I unplugged the module and the noise went away. I was behind the AC controls. Just a thought.

I have the same noise in the same place. It just appeared about 4 months ago and it is not speed or RPM related. When the weather warms up I am going to try unplugging the air bag module like Charged said.
